Abstract: A laminate fabricated by heat rolling consists of five layers. The value Q-1 of the laminate ismeasured in a wide temperature range. The results show that the internal friction of the laminatesincreases monotonously with increasing thickness of the Zn-22 wt. -% Al alloy layer and then adamping peak appears at~93 pct of the total thickness with increase of temperature. The valueQ-1 increases with increasing temperature, reachs a maximum value and then decreases. Thedamping peak of the laminate may be attributed to the relaxation process of the grain boundary ina multiphase Zn-22 wt. -% Al alloy and viscous motion of the interfaces between Zn-Al alloysheet/ Al sheet, AI sheet/ Al-Mg alloy sheet during elevated temperature measurement. The laminates possess the multiple properties of higher damping efficiency . strength and elongation . and lower density compared with those in a single aluminium alloy.
