Mechanism of Effect of Lanthanum Nitrate on Vigor of Aged Rice Seeds

Abstract: The effect of La(NO3)3 on natural or artificial aged rice seeds vigor was studied. The results show that the germination rate, germination index and vigor index of aged rice seed increase. Activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase and peroxidase are enhanced. ·O2- and malond ialdehyde contents decrease in germinating stage of aged rice seed, and cell membrane permeability of aged rice seeds reduces by treating with La(NO3)3. The vigor increase of rice natural aged seed is greater than that of artificial aged rice seeds by treating with La(NO3)3.
