Abstract: Sustainable design strategies for Chongqing City,China,are presented. The analysis is made on the local climate context,since it is quite essential for sustainable building design. An emphasis is put on passive design,considering both urban and building scales. Other issues of relevance are also discussed,such as the potential for the use of renewable energy systems. The analysis of a case study,a typical detached house,newly built,is also shown.
