Abstract: The interface phase(IFP) in a newly developed nearαtitanium alloy Ti-5l23 was investigated by TEM.The interface phase was not found after quenching and subsequent aging at below 800℃.After aging at 800℃,the interface phase appeared atα/β boundaries.The M layer of the interface phase was showed to be an fcc and its orientation relationship may be expressed as(001)m(110)βand[110]m.The S layer of the interface phase was showed to possess hexagonal and twin related on{1011},1012〉to the α.The element concentration gradient produced by diffusion at the boundaries under proper heating and cooling led to change of electron concentration,which probably was the main factor to create the interface phase in the titanium alloys.
