MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTY OF LAVES PHASE TiCr2-BASED ALLOYS

Abstract: The microstructure and phase structure of six Ti Cr alloys near the TiCr2 composition were analysed after homogenously annealing at 1 000 ℃ for 15 h and 1 300 ℃ for 15 h, and the microhardness of TiCr2 was measured. The results showed that the alloys with composition in the range from 32.5% to 35% Ti have pure Laves TiCr2 structure after homogeneously annealing at 1 300 ℃ for 15 h, but display mixed structure of δ TiCr2 and γ TiCr2, for Laves phase transformation from δ to γ is sluggish. Microhardness of Laves phase TiCr2 is related to its composition.
