Abstract: Discussions are given on the possibility of the Peierls distortion in quasi-one-dimensional systems. It is shown that a Peierls distortion may be avoided because of interchain coupling effects. This seems to be the case with paly-Cn group. From this view point it is possible to realize Little¡äs proposal for organic superconductivity.
