Abstract: The effect of additive YF3 on weld microstructure and mechanical performance of titanium alloy TC4 in Activating Tungsten Inert Gas (A-TIG) welding was experimentally investigated. The results show that the weld grains of titanium alloy were refined after introducing the YF3 into the weld in A-TIG welding. This would achieve the better weld mechanical properties in comparison to that of welds by the conventional TIG welding.
