Determination of thermal conductivity of magnesium-alloys

Abstract: An indirect method, Angstroms methodwas adopted and an instrumentwas designed to determine the thermal conductivity of magnesiummetal and alloys. Angstroms method is an axial periodic heat flowtech-nique bywhich the thermal diffusivity can be measured directly. Then thermal conductivity can be obtainedwith relation to thermal diffusivity. Comparedwith the recommended data fromthe literature the fitted values of the thermal diffiusivity correspond with 3%, and the credible probability of the thermal conductivity in therange of 0-450℃is about 95%. The method is applicable in the given temperature range.
