Abstract: Nicalon SiC fiber/LZ aluminium Preform wires of good quality were successfully fabricatedby ultrasonic liquid infiltration process. The influence of the process parameters on the quality ofpreform wire was studied using cross test method. The result shows that the temperature of meltedaluminium is the principal process parameter influencing the quality. Also, the microanalysisshows that the internal and surfacial defects such as fiber degradation , gas cavity and contractioncavity are important factors influencing the quality.
