Abstract: The effect of tempering process on the microstructure and magnetic properties of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets were studied. It is showed that, after tempering, the microstructure of magnets is improved. An increase in the volume fraction of matrix phase was observed. The grain boundary gets clearer and the grain size becomes more consistent. The content of gathered clot of Nd rich phase reduces, whose composition changes to eutectic one. Magnetic properties are improved, and the value of (BH) max is enhanced by 20~30 kJ/m3.
