Large Magnetic Entropy Effect in La2/3Ca1/3MnO3

Abstract: The magnetocaloric effect in the colossal magnetoresistance material La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 was studied.From the measurements of temperature dependence of magnetization in various magnetic fields,the large magnetic entropy change associated with the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transition was discovered.This result suggests that perovskite manganites are suitable candidates as working substance in magnetic refrigeration technology.
