Abstract: In order to investigate seismic residual deformation behavior of embankment slopes of different compaction degrees, the models of 4 types of compaction embankment slopes were designed and shaking table model tests were carried out. Wenchuan waves of different intensities were input to test lateral residual deformation and seismic subsidence behavior of embankment slopes. And the deformation models of embankment slopes were examined. The results show that seismic residual deformations of embankment slopes increase with the decrease of compaction degree, and there is a limit compaction degree of 90%. When the compaction degree of embankment slope is less than 90%, seismic residual deformation increases significantly. The relationship between seismic residual deformation and compaction degree can be fitted by cubic polynomial. With the increase of the peak acceleration of input seismic wave, seismic residual deformation shows a significant increasing trend, especially when the peak acceleration is greater than 0.6g (1 g=9.8 m/s2). The deformation modes of embankment slopes are seismic subsidence mode.
