PREPARATION OF METALLIC ULTRAFINE PARTICLE FILM

Abstract:
A new process named gas evaporation-deposition process is developed for preparation ultrafine particle film in commercial scale, the effects of the process parameters on growth rate and structures of the ultrafine particle film have been systematically studied. The results showed that such special conditions as evaporation temperature, pressure of the innert gas and height of the deposition base are needed for ultrafine particles to form ultrafine particle films. The as-prepared films have typical directional growing characteristics and are composed of agglomerates of particles packing like parallel columns and process. The particles in the films have three types of shape as sphere, similar sphere and dense fragment, and each particle grows from several nanometer particles. The as-prepared films are porous, brittle and can easily milled into powders. The films can resist oxidation in air.
