Abstract: Magnetic pressure analysis lays the foundation of the study of electromagnetic forming. There has been not enough theoretical study of magnetic pressure in electromagnetic tube-compression forming because of inhomogeneous deformation such as buckling. A numerical simulation of the magnetic pressure is carried out during the electromagnetic aluminum tube-compression forming by means of the FEA software ANSYS, and this is the first time that the magnetic pressure distribution in every layer of the thickness of the tube has been explored through quantification analysis. The effects of technological parameters on the magnetic pressure are analyzed and the stress characteristics of electromagnetic aluminum tube-compression forming are analyzed in contrast to those of common aluminum tube-compression forming. The distribution of magnetic pressure acting on the tube is validated with the measurements of the deformed tube.
